Sirjan is a town in Kerman, one of the south-eastern provinces of Iran. Sirjan is regarded as one of the old cities in Iran dating back to the Sassanid period. The town is 175 km. southwest of Kerman city and is located in a semi-desert area, with hot and dry summers and cold winters. Sirjan has several mineral resources including: coal, copper, gold, and most importantly a rich source of iron ore.
